Carter begins by explaining how New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Arden’s assertion that the government should be “your single source of truth” is both immoral and ultimately disastrous from a practical perspective. After thanking community member “Richard” for his input about how to sharpen one’s thinking skills, he tackles the definition for the word of this episode: “emotion.” Finally, he discusses what role emotions play in clear thinking, both positively and negatively, and reviews the latest research about how emotions affect judgement and decision making under the appraisal tendency framework.
