What constitutes Man

This sum of parts

The logician argues

His beginning to end

Is but a collection

All fused into one

Blood and bone, nerve and tissue

But cannot explain

His reason here falters

Just beyond grasping

Man’s nature to yearn

With ochre expressing

Fire’s dim light reflects

On rock’s rough surface

Or hewn tree to totem

Beyond thoughts so base

Subsistence providing

Both inward and outward

Dreams ever seeking

To satisfy learning

What constitutes Man
